In White Evangelical Protestantism, if someone falls morally we destroy them. Someone once said that the Church is the only army that shoots its wounded.
In Black Evangelical Protestantism, if someone falls morally, it seems like they are a cat with nine lives. Ironically, WEP’s just go along with it.
Mark Driscoll was the first guy that I can remember who came up with a game plan for struggling leaders—I’ll never forget his policy for his church planting network. “If you a pastor and you’re struggling with porn and you tell us, you’ll keep your job and we’ll get you help; if you don’t tell us, you’ll lose your job and we’ll get you help.”
I thought that was shockingly unique for a White Evangelical.
People hide things in WEP because they need a job and they know if they are honest about their struggles, their family ends up in the poor house.
I think Mercy and Truth have to kiss.
